Ten happy trampers made light of the amble up Mt Hope.
Actually, the highlight being the unusual landscape with big rocks peppering the open tops of Granite and Mountain beech. The summit itself doesn't stand proud, congruent to Chris remarking "I think its here" not noting the small cain and metal pole a few inches off the ground.
We had a go at identifying peaks from peak viewer , an interesting app if the weather is favourable and you remember your glasses. Ode to the aging bod! Well at least we were out there still doing it. The climb was around 900m. Initially step but softens up and very pleasant Autumn sun as we ascended. Easy to follow track and the first few metres of bramble has been attended to. Once out in the open, you pick your way over to the interesting rock formations through tussock openings admid the denser bush.
All up a great day, lovely company thank you people. Lots of interesting natter, exercise and sunshine. Perfect ingredients for a perfect day. There are a few boggy creeks near the larger rocks otherwise camel up for the day.
To access the start of the track its at Boulder Stream Bridge near Glenhope. Park in the layby and you will see the obvious access. Its marked to above bushline and will take around 5 hours return.
Participants: Andrea (leader & scribe), Chris, Tony, Felicity, Penny, Peter, Jane, Andrew, Mike and Tim
