You are leading a tramp on Mt.Owen and a trip member goes missing…. what do you do??

One of your group gets sick at the hut, is it serious enough to activate your PLB?

A trip member badly sprains their ankle but you’ve got some rope and a strong group of trampers that are keen to help carry them out…. How do you make a stretcher?

You get lost… should you keep trying to find your way or stay put and activate your beacon?

Would you know what to do? We can help.

The Nelson Tramping Club is hosting a Leadership Weekend at Paretai Lodge in the beautiful Lee Valley for existing trip leaders and anyone who is keen to know how to deal with tricky situations in the outdoors and potentially lead trips. Subjects will include: Leadership, Group and Incident Management, Risk Management, Communication, Trip Planning and much more. We are going to have a great mix of expert speakers, group discussions and activities and learning by sharing experiences and outcomes. There will be something for everyone, and of course some marshmallows around a campfire and some great company to top it all off.

The cost of the weekend is $66 for club members and $92 for non-members (cost includes two nights’ accommodation and meals for the weekend).
