Description  

It's a little while since the club visited Scotts Knob. In 2004 we had eleven people summit.

Greigs Hut is accessed via the Leatham Road. Ford the Leatham River then follow a 4WD track for around 14km along the Branch River. Steep cutouts from side streams can make this track a little challenging.

Friday Evening

A great way to do this trip is to get into Griegs Hut on Friday evening, climb Scotts Knob on Saturday, then a leisurely trip back home on Sunday.

Flexibility of team members to get away from Richmond around 17:00 (or earlier) will determine the viability of this option.

Summit Day (Saturday or Sunday)

Leave Greigs Hut early and follow Scott Stream and continue up the head of the valley to the saddle. Turn right and climb a steepish section to the summit. 1550m climb, 14km return.

Ice axe and crampons required. This is a good followup to the Snow Skills weekend.
