Description  

Fit.

Day 1: Walk up the Wairoa River to Top Wairoa Hut (6).

Day 2: Climb up to saddle, detour to ascend Red Hill (1791m). Drop down ridge to Hunters Hut (8).

Day 3: Traverse along to new Porters Creek Hut (6).

Day 4: Walk up to the new Red Hills Hut (6) and down 4WD road near St Arnaud / Tophouse area.

We decided to walk the above route in reverse. Barry Pont & Andy Clark graciously helped us with transport.
