Queen's Birthday Weekend | HOT POOL HEAVEN...

Sat: Drive to Hokitika (4.5 hrs) walk 4 hrs up Toaroha River to huts at Cedar Flats (14 bunks). May need tents (but only cos the leader apparently snores.)

DOC: "The track initially follows an old logging-tram line and follows the river bed. A benched track climbs steadily above the Toaroha Canyon, descending gradually to the lower end of Cedar Flat where a short rock hop and track leads to the Cedar Flat Bridge which is crossed to the huts."

Sun: Optional trips to bag bivvie on Adventure Ridge or Yeats Ridge Hut nearby. (6km round trips). Compulsory soak in Wren Creek springs. Bring a book or games. Mandatory chocolate gifts for leader.

Mon: Waddle back to cars; drive home refreshed.

PLAN B:
If the Coast is too wet, we'll do the Jollie Brook circuit near Lake Sumner.
