Description

A 3 day trip from Mt Robert carpark along Robert Ridge to Angelus Hut (1 serviced hut ticket). Day two: climb up to Sunset Saddle and bag Angelus Peak on the way then descend Hopeless Creek to Hopeless Hut (1 serviced hut ticket). The fit and adventurous might like to do a quick climb to the summit of Mt Hopeless (takes about 3 hours return). Day three: out via Travers Valley back to cars. Each day is strenous and around 6-7 hours (plus 3 if climbing Hopeless). Snow is melting fast in the hills, but ice axe and crampons should be carried. There is some significant exposure enroute, so if walkers are not comfortable with heights this may not be the trip for them,.

STOP PRESS Thurs 27/10/16 weather forecast looks wet and windy and no takers for the trip anyway so am cancelling.
