Description
Sunday Hellfire Creek track clearing trip, Rainbow Valley. The club first started clearing this track in 2007. We haven't been back for a few years and it needs a trim and to clear some windfalls. We will bike or walk from locked gate to Lee's Creek bridge bike 20min. or walk 45 min. then walk down true right of the Wairau River to Hellfire Creek 45 min. Hellfire Creek has great tenting spots in the clearings at the head of valley and at the bush edge. Over 3 hours up and to a large tarn another 1 hour from the bush edge.This Tarn was one of top 15 best tarns in New Zealand in the Wilderness magazine 2015. Could also do this as a weekend trip, good camping spot at start of Hellfire Creek. Map Series: Topo50 Map BS25
