Description  

Labour Day Long Weekend

From Te Rou Road (Northbank Wairau) follow the track along Timms Creek then steeply up to the site of the Mt Fell hut at 1300m. This is the club's latest project and there will be others working in the area to relocate the hut so tenting will be necessary. From the campsite it is a relatively short walk to Mt Fell (1602m), Mt Richmond (1760m) and Johnston Peak, where there is a memorial plaque and wreckage from the ill-fated Kereru plane crash in 1942. Return to cars the same way on Monday.
