Description  

The Last trip up here was a bit of a washout, so let's have another go at getting to the magnificent top plateau.

DAY 1: Drive to the Matiri Valley near Murchison and cross the West Branch Matiri (hopefully easier than last time) on the way to Matiri Hut and up to Poor Pete's (2 bunks) on the plateau. About 4-5 hours (13km with an 750m climb, some steep). May keep going to Larrikin Creek, or:

DAY 2: Easy 2-3 hour walk across to Larrikin Creek Hut (4 bunks, 1 ticket]. In the afternoon explore the area around the Needle, the Haystack and 100 Acre Plateau.

DAY 3: Back out to the cars.

Will need to carry tents.
