Description
From the the Rainbow Road (permission required & gate fee), cross Lees Creek swingbridge. Cross Wairau River flats to Hellfire Stream (45 min). Then a 450m climb over 8.5km (3+hrs) to tent at the bush edge. The Club has cleared the first half of the track up the Hellfire but the last 2.5km is a little overgrown. If time allows on either day, a 500m climb to the big tarn on the tops at the head of Hellfire could be done. Map Series: BS25
