Description  

Easter W/end  > Lake Sumner Forest Park 'Hope Springs Eternal'Day One: From Windy Pt (27km from the top of the Lewis Pass SH7 on Canterbury side), walk 17km / climb 200m / 5-7 hrs up Hope River. Stay at St Jacobs Hut (Std, 6 bunks).Day Two: Walk 6km / 2 hrs up Hope valley to Top Hope Hut (Free, 6 bunks). Visit hot springs 3km away.Day Three:Exit over the Doubtful Range. (700m climb up Pussy Stm to Lake Man Biv (2 bunks), visit Doubtless Hut (6 bunks), down Kedron Stm.Day Four: Exit down Doubtful, along Tui Track to Windy Pt. See routes on LSFP Parkmap or on-line:
