Description

Easter Tramp:

Using the Crane Creek track, Rochfort Basin to the Waikiti Hut, (6 bunks) Kopara Forest Conservation Park, Nelson Creek.

Travel from Nelson and tent in Rochfort Basin which will be a short walk for the day. The next day climb up onto the easy tops above the basin (800m climb from the start of track), and drop down the other side into the Waikiti valley (about 500m), walk down to the river and along to the Waikiti hut.  Allow five hours from the roadend to Rochford and another three from there to Waikiti Hut.

Come back out same way in. Could also do the trip as a round trip, and come out via another track.
