Description |

| From carpark at end of Aniseed Valley Road we walk the vehicle track which takes us further up the valley. For a time the route goes through cleared pine forest with nice views of the Roding River winding through rich native bush. After a knee-high river crossing the vehicle track takes us through the native forest to the vicinity of the United Mine site. From here we enter the ultramafic belt of scub, tussock and dun rock, by following a rough track till it drops us into the United Creek a little beyond the Jackson Creek confluence. We then work our way upstream, amongst a great array of conglomerate rocks, for about 500 meters before sidling on the true right in search of the mine remains. The mine site is close to the stream, not higher up the slope as shown on the topo map. On a trip last December we missed seeing the site and hope to find it this time. After exploring the area we return to the carpark by the way we came in. Map Series: BQ26 | ||
