| The Secomd stage of the Via Ferrata is now open to the Public. It provides an even more challenging adventure for thrill-seekers and confidence-builders. Here are some comments from two Club members who took visitors there recently:- "The climbs are harder than we expected, especially the newer Cliff Conquerer route. It and the Cliff Traverse route take 45-60 minutes. We have some rock-climbing experience and are generally ok with heights and exposure but some may find it challenging! There are exit routes on both the main climbs, but on the Conquerer there is only one after the first 40m pitch, then you have to go to the end. There is considerable exposure, some shallow overhangs, ladders leaning out from the cliff (you climb on the inside), big drops, etc. All very safe but unnerving if you don’t like heights so worth warning people if they are wondering if it’s for them." Other suggestions they made: "Gloves are strongly recommended. The gear set from Ngarua Caves is supposed to include them but they only have a limited supply, so worth bringing your own in case - the tight, elastic Ninja gardening gloves with rubber palms are ideal." It is IMPORTANT that "You contact the Trip Leader before registering" for a trip. Especially if you are new to the club or a non-club member (Visitor). The Leader will need to be confident that you have the experience, fitness and the correct gear to complete the trip successfully. :-)

VISITORS can register using their email address which will be used to send you trip registration confirmation details and the ability to cancel the trip registration. Please register each person attending separately.
