| A walk in the Brook Sanctuary,The walk up the Brook Creek to the boundary of the Sanctuary is the nicest walk in the Sanctuary, Going initially throught regenerating forest, then mixed podoarp, beech and kamihi in a deep moist gully till we have a grunty climb to the fence boundary (550M climb). A short walk along the fence will bring us to Toutouwai gate which we can exit and have a break at Third House. Going back into the Sanctuary we will follow a bush trail just in from the fence till we come to Tuatara Spur (some ups and downs). Tuatara Spur is my favourite exit back to the Sanctuary VC. Along this spur where it is rocky are masses of the NZ Easter orchid Earina autumnbalis - which should be in flower. We may see Orange fronted Kakariki.Use your Brook Sanctuary Annual Supporter pass to enter, or pay the entrance fee of $15. | ||
