This was to be a trip to Mt Evans, but DOC does not maitain this track any longer and reports it is overgrown. Instead we will do the Wainui circuit. From Canaan Downs car park head up to Wainui Saddle. We will likely divert to Moa Park shelter for morning tea before returning to the Evans ridge. We walk along Evans ridge till the turnoff to Wainui valley and have a steep descent to Wainui Hut where we will have lunch. From Wainui Hut it is 1.5hrs back to the cars. Total Elevation gain 350M. Distance 15km |

It is IMPORTANT that "You contact the Trip Leader before registering" for a trip. Especially if you are new to the club or a non-club member (Visitor). The Leader will need to be confident that you have the experience, fitness and the correct gear to complete the trip successfully. :-)
