From Flora car park (940m) proceed up to Lodestone track to the summit (1462m). Descend the spur directly N to the saddle and follow a trapping line back up to the summit of Mt Hodder (1377m). Take the spur to the W leading over pt 1148 and descend steeply to Flora Stream near the swing bridge at Horseshoe Creek. Take the 4WD track up to Flora Hut and over the saddle back to the carpark. A good work out with no technical difficulties. Great views from the tops and interesting forest with the possibility of Kea on the tops and Whiro (Blue Duck) in Flora Stream. In the event of inclement weather on the tops an alternate trip will organised lower down, possibly the Lake Rotoiti Circuit in NLNP.
