Description

  

Day 1: Saturday 26th March

Meet at the carpark outside the Richmond Squash Courts at 7.45am to reconcile vehicles.

Drive to Mataki Lodge and drop a bike or two at the foot foot of Jameson Ridge track and continue on to park vehicles at the DOC car park by Mataki Station.

Walk up the head of Watson Creek to camp for the night.

Day 2: Sunday 27th March

Gain the tops at the head of Watson Creek and find a suitable campsite to set up tents and leave gear.

Spend the day exploring the tops, swimming in tarns and enjoying the views.

Day 3: Monday 28th March

Make the killer descent to the Mole Saddle followed by a pleasant amble down the Jameson Ridge to have a party member leap aboard a bike to fetch the vehicle!

There was talk by Graeme Ferrier of having a party come up the Mole Saddle-Tiraumea Track to do a swopover. I've heard that track is pretty overgrown and I think would mean getting a water taxi to D'Urville Hut  which would would be a bit of a mission. I haven't undertaken to organise this, but if anyone is keen to let me know! ;-)

Registration

It is IMPORTANT that "You contact the Trip Leader before registering" for a trip. Especially if you are new to the club or a non-club member (Visitor). The Leader will need to be confident that you have the experience, fitness and the correct gear to complete the trip successfully. :-)
