I have decided to change the order and start off at the Takaka Hill Walkway as it could be pretty hot (22 deg C) and the walk to Harwoods Hole is in the shade. So:

NEW PLAN

9am (ish) depart Richmond Squash Club, drive to Takaka Hill Walkway 1 hour

10am ish Takaka Hill Walkway Full loop is 2 hours. Morning tea about 11am

12.15pm ish drive to Harwoods Hole track - 30 minutes.

12.45pm. 45minutes walk to Gorge Creek viewpoint. 6km flat track ,

1.30pm lunch at the viewpoint (half an hour)

2.45pm leave for Riwaka resurgence 40 minutes.

3.30pm  ish 5 minute walk to resurgence. Half an hour for look around.

4pm ish leave for Richmond - 50minutes

5pm back at squash club at the latest

OLD PLAN

9am depart Richmond Squash Club, drive to Harwoods Hole Track. 1.5 hrs

Walk to view of Gorge Creek (morning tea) and to top of Harwooods Hole. 6km, flat track, described by DOC as 1.5 hours round trip.

12.30 ish depart for Takaka Hill Walkway carpark about 30minutes drive. Full loop is 5.1km about 2 hours. Interesting karst landscape. Lunch.

3.30pm ish depart for Richmond (1 hour) or optional stop at Riwaka Resurgence (40 minutes). Only a 5 minute walk to see it and a 50 minute return to Richmond.

Back at Richmond 5/5.30pm.

My research shows that the Riwaka Resurgence is sacred to Te Ātiawa and Ngāti Rārua so no swimming.

This is my first time leading a trip for NTC. A bit of a tourist jaunt; but that's all good as I am new to the area! Look forward to seeing you

Registration

It is IMPORTANT that "You contact the Trip Leader before registering" for a trip. Especially if you are new to the club or a non-club member (Visitor). The Leader will need to be confident that you have the experience, fitness and the correct gear to complete the trip successfully. :-)
