Here goes Time for some interesting route finding in the lovely karst Landscape around Mt Owen I have changed the trip to make it a wee bit more adventerous. We will travel up the Owen Valley East Road from Murchison and head up the Owen river and then Bulmer Creek. It takes about 2.5 hours to get to the base of the large bluff, then head up the impressive bluff via a series of vegetated rock ledges. There is one 5m rock step to negotiate, I will suss this out with the cavers, see what fixed rope or ladder is there. We will probably shuffle our bags up at this 5m point, We can camp at Lake Bulmer or head over into Castle Basin and camp there. I have yet to asertain if we can get to the ridge North of Bulmer lake and access Poverty Basin from there. Either way day two head to poverty basin and then round to Sunrise Ridge and exit via the Owen river. Obviously Blue Birdie days or we will just shift the trip. I antiipate we will work together to navigate through the landscape, it wont be just follow the leader. I will coordinate and we will have fun together. I have GPX file for general guidence. |
