Description |
||
This 6-7 day trip takes in the historic Kill Devil track as far as Anotoki Forks before ascending onto the Douglas Range and looping back south to then traverse the Lockett Range to exit at the Cobb Dam. Vehicles will need to left at both roadends so ideally this would suit a crossover trip if numbers permit. Tents will be required to be carried and experience on multi-day back country travel over rough terrain is a must as there are some biggish ups and downs. If our number are small we will do a circuit simplifing transport by starting at the Cobb dam and taking the trap line to Lake Lockett. From here its untracked as we climb up onto the tops, descend the ridge eastwards and drop down a spur to Waingaro Forks Hut. Sounds like something you are up for? give Pete a call to discuss the finer details..... The Plan Day One - Road end to Waingaro Hut via Kill Devil track - 6-7hrs, 17km OR alternative as above Day Two - Waingaro Hut to Anatoki Forks 7-10hrs, 16km Day Three - Anatoki Forks hut to Adelaide Tarn 5-6hrs, 6km Day Four - Adelaide Tarn via Anatoki River to Lonely Lake Hut - 6-8hrs, 8km Day Five - Spare Day Day Six - Lonely Lake to Tarn at northern end of Lockett Range - 10km Day Seven - Lockett Tarn campsite to Sylvester Hut OR OUT - 7-9hrs, 12kms |
