We left the Badminton club at 8 am and arrived at Kerr Bay nice and early – in fact early enough for us to take an earlier slot with the water taxi as another group was running late. We were at Coldwater hut at 9:50 which gave us heaps of time to have a tea break on the riverbank and take a leisurely lunch at the swing bridge where we arrived at 12:20.

The weather was beautiful and good for walking but the last bit where we walked in the meadows was warm with the sun beating on us. We had enough time at the Lakehead Hut to go to the shaded glade where people camp and make fires in big fire-rings and rest up before making our way to the jetty 15 minutes away (ah, the hardship!). On the jetty we had a bit of a wait for the taxi that was running late so we lolled around watching the swans, ducks, and sailboats (more hardship!).

We were back at Kerr bay a little before 4 pm. Injuries: One wasp sting and one bumped head on a tree branch.

For those who do this trip a next time: With warm weather it might be a good idea to make this trip in reverse starting at Lakehead because we passed a series of superb swimming holes on our way up to the bridge!
