6 Trampers set off from the car park at the start of the Lakeside track at about 10.15. Walking through bush initially then down to the lakeside that was flat calm with 1 lone kayaker in the distance.
We had morning tea beside the lake before losing the sun on the steep sloped Western side of the lake. On this section towards Whiskey Falls we encounted significant recent large tree windfall that we had to negotiate around. We took a side trip to Whiskey Falls that had a decent amount of water coming over them.
The reasonable volume of water coming down the creeks on this side also meant that some of got wet feet crossing the streams. We had a late lunch at Lakehead Hut sitting on the jetty, noting the increased activity on the lake. It had taken us 3hrs 15mins.
Our return from Lakehead was faster taking just under 2.5 hrs. A good walk in good company and thanks to Chris T and Chris O for leading the way across the streams and the windfall.
