Having decided it was time for another womble over the Robert ridge circuit and picked an auspicious date (i.e; one that did not conflict with any other appointments or NTC trips) I was promptly abandoned by wife and daughter in favour of multisport training. HOWEVER, 4 doughty souls had their interest piqued enough to register and so we went.

Collecting Ali & Jane from Nelson, and Shane from the Badminton carpark, we met Steve at the upper carpark @ 9am, heading up Pinchgut track in pursuit of the tops with bluebird weather promising the usual superlative laden views one should not tire of. At the top bench seat I apologised for the misleading advertising - we had to make do with homemade Afghans. Turns out my wife (who's date scones are a wonder of the modern world) refuses to make them when she is not going on the trip to enjoy them.

We managed through this hardship, splitting at the Angelus junction with me heading to Bushline hut to get a nap whilst the rest of the party checked out the ridge overlooking the ski basin. The views everywhere remained epic and lunch on the Bushline deck was an interesting blend of permaculture topics, PLBs becoming old school very soon (the Starlink effect), homemade coffee, deconstructed sandwich and chai with Ali taking home the prize for most lunch containers.

Paddy's track has been scoured over winter but offered a steady gradient and we managed to return to the vehicles without incident, heading back to whence we came in due course to reflect on a good day out.

Participants: Tim (leader & scribe), Ali, Jane and Shane.
