Congratulations to the enthusiastic winners, who ran my 12km mega-walk in a blistering pace of 1 hour, 48 minutes. Incredibly, a dog won this event, followed closely by his owners, Forrest & Mari. Thanks to the 30 entrants and 3 dogs who participated despite a dodgy weather forecast for Labour Day.
All teams managed to find my hidden caches located at Pipers Park and Quaker Acre, and follow my map on an intricate route up 20 staircases, pathways and trails.
Thanks also to my wife Lynette, homestay Sophie, and the indefatiguable Kath Ballantine, who ran the registration desk and traffic marshalling. Despite a few short showers at the start, the event was enjoyed by all.
Look out for next year's races, including a re-run of the Port Hills mega-walk based in Pioneers Park. (Organiser & Scribe: Ray Salisbury)
