Finally the ducks came in a row and hohoho off to the snow we go. With MTC fellow Trampers we totaled eight, six from this side of the Whangamoas.
Duckie one.. Weather was a hit. Two glorious days of sunshine and no to low winds. We left the hut at 0600 for our ascent under a clear starry sky and later a rising sun, casting pinky hues on the peaks and ridges around.
Duckie two.. Hut all to ourselves and we made good use of it. Mattresses migrated to the lounge for stretching/yoga, benches rearranged around a toastie fire, snowy seats were cleared and whisky literally placed on ice. The Snorers banished themselves to the East bunk room, others in the West and the softies cosied by the fire.
Duckie three.. Great company, happy chitter chatter and multiple tales and jokes from the ol sea dog, among others.
Duckie four.. Snow was sufficient to avoid rocks on the steep summit slopes and firm enough to down climb on points
Duckie five.. Heck, totaling over half a millenium in years between us, we didnt do bad, the bods held up. Even the crazy duo from MTC, who had just completed an epic on Shingle Peak two days prior, set good pace.
What more is there to say. Peter will be creating a Masterpiece B movie, watch the NTC Facebook page for the Action Figures.
A big Thank you to super sweet company
