DESCRIPTION:Arthur's Pass has its 3 pass trip, and Southland has its 5 pass trip; Nelso
 n Lakes lends itself perfectly to a 7 pass trip. Link the Travers, Sabine a
 nd D'Urville valleys (with small incursions into the Waiau and Matakitaki )
  by crossing Travers Saddle, Waiau, Thompson and D'Urville Passes, David Sa
 ddle, and Moss and Gunsight Passes. 7 days tramping of 5 to 10 hour days. A
 llow up to 2 extra days for rest or weather. Tents required for 2 nights; m
 aybe more if huts are busy. Ice axes and crampons are not required. Agility
  on rough ground is required. Start and/or finish the trip with the Rotoiti
  water taxi ($30 each way). Celebrate NTC's 85th birthday with a notable tr
 ip in our backyard. \nFlexible start date to time fine weather for the firs
