People mainly s hoot through taking the water taxi to the head of the lake and the D'Urvill e valley but there are some walks of interest at the road-end.The first wal k will be the Braeburn loop track. This is a valley walk on a good track th rough fine bush with a short side trip to a waterfall (2 hours). After this warm-up and lunch, we will head up the Porika track. This is a steep 4WD r oad heading to the Howard valley. We will only go up to the section where t here are wonderfull views back down to the lake, forest and mountain backdr op (1.5 hrs return). There is also the option to park up at the Gownbridge turnoff on SH6 and bike in/out to the lake on the quiet side-road (24 km re turn).
