To avoid the nasty Saturday weather forecast, let's do a daytrip on
Beginning at the Maitai Dam, walk up the South Branch up into Windtrap Gully, topping out on Dun Saddle. A short scramble gets us to the old Dun S helter, a red stone's throw from the trig pipe. A traverse of the Bryant Ra nge over Dun Mtn and Little Twin brings us to the Dew-bious Lakes. A left t urn follows the historic Maori trail down to the argillite quarry and Rush Pools. A steep-ish descent is made back to the Dam.
