DESCRIPTION:<p>We start by visiting the Glenhope Railway station alongside SH6. Thanks 
 to head ranger Daryl, I have a key to get in. This doesn't involve much wal
 king but its interesting to see inside the 1912 building.</p><p>Next is 6 m
 ile hydo station in the Matakitaki Valley. Again, I have a key from DoC. We
  visit the generating building dating from 1922 followed by a walk up the i
 ntake leat and on to a lake that is no longer. 5.2km</p><p>Then we move on 
 to 8 mile creek where a walkway goes to a lake after a climb through wonder
 ful bush. 4km</p><p>Lastly we do the Skyline Walk, the biggest climb of the
  day at 237m, 3.4km with great views over what was Hampden but is now Murch
 ison.</p><p>A longish drive but we visit some tracks normally bypassed.</p>
