The Hartbreak Ridge track and loop to Totara Saddle and Browning Hut is a great longish day walk in Nelson's backyard the Hacket. A trail has been blazed, but more permanent markers need to be installed and likely some veg etation trimming needed. Much of the work marking this track was done by Ian Morris and I consider keeping this track open and used would b e a great way to honour the contribution Ian made to our club. I pro pose we plan an overnight trip staying at Browning Hut doing track clearing and marking on the route in. We then either return the way we came via Tot ara Saddle and down Hartebreak Ridge if not completed on the way in, or, if good progress was made, we return via Browning track.
Alternatively we could consider doing it as a long day trip especially if we get a good n umber of participants.
