Day 1 We access the start via Inwoods lookou t at 1020M. Walk to Hunters Hut over Gordons Range climbing to 1519 on Gordons Range before dropping to cro ss the Motueka River (unbridged) to Hunters Hut at 850M. 8 bunks.
Day 3 Drop into the bush and follow the Wairoa River L branch down to Mid Wairoa Hut. 6 bunks. This section has slippery sidles, steep drop offs and about 8 rive r crossings. 8km 4hrs.
Day 4 Walk out to cars. This section of track is not well maintained, there are steep drop offs, a couple of river crossings and likely tree falls. The track finishes at the Bike park and there is a 2km road walk to the cars 5 hrs.< /span>
The huts are small we will need to take some tents. I am hopin g we can arrange friends or family to drop us off and pick up, otherwise. T rack transport in Nelson could drop us at Inwoods Lookout for $60 each, che aper if theer are 10 people.
