Easy 3-4 day riverside ramble in North Canterbury hills , following streams and flats. A good leg-stretcher. (Could easily be done in 3 days, depending on WX forecast, and fitness.)
DAY 1: Drive SH7 to Culverden, Hawarden, then inland up Lake Sumner Road alo ng the Hurunui Stream. (5-6 hrs). Overnight at Lake Taylor. Explore this lo cale.
DAY 2: RE-locate cars. Walk from the Sisters S wingbridge; 3 hours to Gabriel Hut (4 bunks, free) then on to Jollie Brook Hut (7 bunks, $5/ea) = 4.5 hours total, plus detour to visit Lake Sumner (3 0mins return).
DAY 3: Jollie Brook Hut downstream to junction, then upstream to Cold Stream Hut (6 bunks) = 3 hours, inc. "freq uent stream crossings."
DAY 4: Cold Stream Hut out t o Jollie Brook Stream, then across flats to Sisters Swingbridge = 4 hours. Drive home via hot springs or coffee shops :-)
