This an easy walk mostly under the cover of trees, apart from a half hou r at the beginning, which is in the open and steadily climbing to a low sad dle. There are views to the west and south west from the saddle. Features: a couple of ankle-deep stream crossings, lovely native bush and plenty of i nteresting fungi in late autumn. If fitter members want to form a sub group to walk the longer route along the ridge line to the hut, we could split a t the saddle and rendezvous at the hut or back at the car park. Approx. 12 kms and 3.5 hours return.
