Gordon's Knob (1592m) is a peak on the Gordon Range in Mt Richmond Fores t Park. It is an 11km return trip from Inwoods Lookout, likely to tak e 6 to 7 hours. The walk is reasonably challenging through tussock an d scree, with a 600m climb. This is an alpine route and exposed. ; The track is relatively rough in parts and a route is followed up to Gord on's Knob after leaving the main track. Great views from the top on a good day over the Red Hills.
To get to Inwood Lookout: head south from Nelson along State Hig hway 6. Just past Belgrove turn left onto Wai-iti Valley Road (the main roa d to St Arnaud from Nelson). The turnoff to Inwood Lookout (Wai-iti Road) i s approximately 11 km from Belgrove. Allow 45 min to reach the Wai-iti Road turnoff from Nelson. The forestry road to the lookout, Wai-iti Road, is st eep and rough, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Follow the orange DOC trian gle markers along the road as it heads beneath the power pylons and climbs the pine-forested range to the car park at Inwood Lookout.
