Unfortunately I have to postpone this trip because I am slowly recovering from a cold and ear infection and I am not well enough yet. Maybe we can find a date in December or later t o reschedule this trip.
Hartebreak Ridge is an unofficial track in the Hacket Valley and is named after the creator Alan H art. It has been infrequently used over the years with trips recorded in 2001, 2006 and 2016 and since then it had become overgrown and difficul t to find and follow. Recently the club has cleared this track and made it useable again.
The track branches off at the Mine r River (Whisering Falls) confluence and heads up past points 447, 596 and 822 to re-join the track down to Totara Saddle and then down past Browning Hut. The ridge is in the mineral belt with scrubby vegetation and som e gorse and jagged rocks. Higher up there are some tall trees which m ake a nice canopy and more pleasant walking.
