DESCRIPTION:Mount Hope is not the main attraction in this trip, the interesting rock fo
rmations nearby are much more interesting. It should be about six hours wal
king time, but it is worth allowing another two hours to explore the rock f
ormations on the ridge near Mount Hope. This track is not an official track
but it is fairly well marked and fairly well worn. The first part is a ste
ep and steady climb of about an hour before it eases off. Great views from
the top. I’ve done this trip three times. The track starts from the Kohatu
-Kawatiri Highway at Boulder Creek Bridge, not far before Kawatiri. It is a
