e & Mt Fell huts.\n\nDebbie Hogan will lead a group up the standard 4-h

bushline, the poled route traverses unstable, rocky slopes which require g
ood balance and confident footwork. Look out for the rare penwiper, vegetab

** (6 bunks) We may need to use tents. A sharp track descends 1000 metres d
own to the car by Timms Creek.\n\nRay Salisbury will lead the reverse trip,
so we can swap cars. If his party rise early enough, they may climb Mt Fel
l*** (1602m) first. And maybe even scramble from the Devils Armchair up Joh
nston Peak, before tackling Mt Richmond.\n\n* A Lockheed Electra disappeare
d in May 1942 on a commercial flight, with the loss of five lives. Johnston
Peak was named after the pilot Keith Johnston, while Mt Fell was named aft
er one of the passengers, Pamela Fell, a keen tramper from Nelson. Wreckage
is located approx. 300m southeast of Pt 1613. Items such as pedals, propel
lers and fuselage are strewn on the slopes. Grid Ref: E16 342.11; N54 087.6
