DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>THE TRIP IS NOW FULL: 18 FROM NTC, 4 FROM GBATC, AND 7 FROM MTC.
 &nbsp;</strong></p><p>This is a combined Golden Bay Alpine and Tramping Clu
 b and NTC trip, and now open also to Marlborough Tramping Club members.</p>
 <p>Walk in to Robert Lodge early Saturday, and stay the night. Kerosene hea
 ting and gas cooking are provided in the lodge, but no showers. No candles 
 are to be lit, but bring your head torch. Toilets are flushed by bucket. If
  there is someone coming on the trip who has been inducted as a member of t
 he Mt Robert Foundation (see their website), please make yourself known to 
 me. Self catered, but some may wish to pool their food for Saturday evening
 . Open to ideas on this. The fee for Robert Lodge is $20, plus $2 for consu
 mables, additional to the transport charge. Maximum capacity of Robert Lodg
 e is 30. If the weather forecast is dire, the trip will be postponed.</p><p

 ew to snow travel using gear</li><li>practice movement on different types a
 nd gradients of snow slopes</li><li>gain confidence in what is comfortably 
 doable, and avoiding what is not.</li><li>practice self arresting technique
  in varying conditions.&nbsp;</li><li>snow travel using walking poles will 
 also be covered.</li><li>recognition and avoidance of avalanche risk.</li><
 li>snow shelter theory.</li><li>plan a snow trip.</li><li>escape routes.</l
 i></ul><p>I will endeavour to find experienced mountaineers who might or mi
 ght not be members, to ensure a good ratio of instructors, and a good range
  of ideas and techniques.</p><p><strong>Ice axes and crampons required. CHR
 IS LOUTH STILL HAS SOME AVAILABLE. MTC are able to hire out crampons and ic
