We will do two easy walks at Lake Rotoroa, Nelson Lakes NP. People mainl y shoot through taking the water taxi to the head of the lake and the D'Urv ille valley but there are some walks of interest at the road-end.The first walk will be the Braeburn loop track. This is a valley walk on a good track through fine bush with a short side trip to a waterfall (2 hours). After t his warm-up and lunch, we will head up the Porika track. This is a steep 4W D road heading to the Howard valley. We will only go up to the section wher e there are wonderfull views back down to the lake, forest and mountain bac kdrop (1.5 hrs return). There is also the option to park up at the Gow nbridge turnoff on SH6 and bike in/out to the lake on the quiet side-road ( 24 km return).
