Waitangi Weekend
Saturday morning we will drive out to Pelorus riv er and set up camp at the campsite. See the link for more information : https://ww w.doc.govt.nz/pelorus-bridge-campsite
Note also: From 15 Decemb er 2021 eligible people must be fully vaccinated to use DOC accommodation.< /span>
We will blow up tubes if you have your own, (I have some extra , on first come first served basis) or you can hire from the Office, then p ractice floating down the river around Pelorus river bridge. Bring wetsuits if you have, suitable shoes to walk on rocks in the river, and goggle and snorkel if you have some. Bug spray is also recommended, along with suntan cream.
Sunday we will drive up the Pelorus river and do a longer floa t down the river. This may be wilder than the practice tubing on Saturday.< /p>
On Monday we will do a walk in the area before returning home in the afternoon/evening.
This trip is very weather dependent. We may need to change the order of our adventures.
As this is Waitangi weeke nd, the campsite will probably be fully booked. I will make a block booking for max 14 people - 3 campsites ($20/person/night) so please rsvp asap to confirm your spot.
Or you can come over for the day for the tub ing and not camp.
This trip has been cancelled due to the heavy rain warning for later this week. If the weather is warm and the river has dropp ed enough, we may want to go down the river on Monday, as a day trip only.& nbsp;
