Description | ||
Starveall involves an easy warm-up walk to Hacket Hut. The going then gets harder! Beyond the Hut the track follows Hacket Creek up a gully, with eight creek crossings - be prepared to get wet feet. After 1.5 km the track climbs steeply out of the gully and ascends steadily through beech forest. The track follows a narrow ridge and skirts around Pyramid Rock (660 m elevation). This roughly marks the halfway point. The track continues climbing, and there are a few brief steep sections and some boggy bits as small streams are crossed. The track zig-zags up the final half-kilometre to the hut which is on the bush line All going well it is a further 350m to Mt Starveall itself. Distance approx 11.5 km and 850 climb m to the Hut - 6 bunks & I Ticket. There are tent sites around the Hut. | ||
