Hartebreak Ridge is an unofficial track in the Hacket Valley and is named after the creator Alan Hart.  It has been infrequently used over the years with trips recorded in 2001, 2006 and 2016 and since then it had become overgrown and difficult to find and follow.   Recently the club has cleared this track and made it useable again.

The track branches off at the Miner River (Whisering Falls) confluence and heads up past points 447, 596 and 822 to re-join the track down to Totara Saddle and then down past Browning Hut.  The ridge is in the mineral belt with scrubby vegetation and some gorse and jagged rocks.  Higher up there are some tall trees which make a nice canopy and more pleasant walking.
