Based on the success of the 2019 training, this is proposed to be a comb ined Golden Bay Alpine & Tramping Club, Waimea Tramping club, Marlborou gh Tramping Club and NTC trip.

Regret, due to lack of snow in the are a of the hut, the snow skills training trip will not go ahead in the curren t format. 

Walk in to Robert Lodge early Saturday, and st ay the night.

The current plan for the training weekend i s low keyed and will depend on final numbers. We would include some trainin g aspects over the weekend, but it will be informal training in action rath er than a formal navigation training event. 

Kerosene heating and gas cooking are provided in the lo dge, but no showers. No candles are to be lit, so bring your head torch (+s pare battries). Toilets are flushed by bucket. Self catered, but some may w ish to pool their food for Saturday evening. Open to ideas on this. The fee for Robert Lodge for club members is $20, (children $15), for visitors ($3 0 and children $25) additional to the transport charge. Maximum capacity of Robert Lodge is 30. We also can make use of the Christy lodge (30) for sle eping as well, but neither the heating or water are connected. Some may nee d to bring a sleeping mattress. If the weather forecast is dire, the trip w ill be postponed.

VFML has been engaged by the Department of Conservation(DOC) t o carry out an aerial predator control operation in the Nelson Lakes Nation al Park during the months of August & September 2020 which includes an aerial application of 1080 pellets.

< p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; color: #222 222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">This operation is weather depe ndant, hence, we are not able at this stage to give a specific date as rega rd when it will occur.  However, the operation has to be completed by the 30th September 2020. < /p>

 

Once a definitive date is able to be det ermined VFML will advise all interested parties giving 48 hours’ notice.

Further to my earlier e mail (below) I write to confirm that all the necessary consents have been g ranted and as such we will look to execute the helicopter Prefeed and 1080 Toxin drops at the first available weather window.
