It has been a while since the club went into Lees Creek, one of the pret tiest valleys in the region. We will head up the Rainbow Road through the l ocked gate just past the skifield road (gate fee to be paid). Park up by th e swing bridge to cross the Wairau river and head up the valley on a good t rack. Depending on time, energy and weather, we will camp by the Lees Creek hut (4 bunks; 8-9 km)) or go a bit further up the valley on the tussock fl ats. Early start on Sunday morning to go further up the valley and into the East branch. Explore the upper basins above the waterfall towards the Ragl an Range tops before returning to camp. After lunch we up-pack, down-valley to get back to the vehicles.
