Day walks from Collingwood (Saturday and Sunday morning). The plan is to arrive Friday night, walk on Saturday, have a shared tea on Saturday night , walk Sunday morning and then back to Nelson Sunday afternoon.
There is accommodation for 8 people in shared rooms (two beds each room) in the 'DOC' bach at Collingwood. As there is no camping outside the bach, t he other (cheap) accommodation option is to camp at the Collingwood motor c amp. There is also a motel there. First 8 people registered can stay at the bach (if you want to) - email me if you want to stay at the bach aft er you register. Could non-club members contact me before registering please? For the bach you need to bring sleeping bag & pillow (no bedding provided), towel etc.
There are lots of options for walks, from long day walks (eg Mt Stevens, Parapara Peak or Farewell Sp it to Wharariki beach across Cape Farewell) and shorter walks (eg Pupu Hydr o walk, the Greenhills loop at Puponga, Kaituna track or shorter sections o f the Cape Farewell / Pillar Point walk). What we end up doing depend s on how many people come, what the weather is doing and what people want t o do. If there are enough people & cars to split into smaller gro ups we can have some flexibility.
I was thinking that for people coming on the Friday night, we could eat out in Collingwood at the pub and then Saturday night all get together at the bach and have a shared meal. There is a fridge and freezer at the bach to store food. < /p>
