 has recently moved from windy Wellington to live in Richmond, so let's give
  his a warm Nelson welcome :-)</p><p>Peter will present the spectacular ima
 ges from his second book,<strong><em> KHUMBU Pathways to Kinship </em></str
 ong>in August 2021.</p><p>His story encompasses seven trekking journeys spa
 nning more than thirty years to Khumbu, the Nepalese gateway to Mount Evere
 st and home to the Sherpa people. His story is also about a journey to kins
 hip between a Kiwi family and a Sherpa family; a journey through tourism ex
 pansion, the emergence of guided climbs to the summit of Mount Everest, eco
 nomic and technological development and environmental, cultural and politic
 al change; and a journey shared by a father and each of his three sons. It 
 also carries a message that is well timed as we slowly work our way to the 
 far end of the COVID tunnel.</p><p>His book was the Mountain and Adventure 
 Heritage Category winner at the 2022 <strong>NZ Mountain Film &amp; Book Fe
 stival</strong> at Wanaka. Leading New Zealand mountaineer Guy Cotter wrote
  the Foreword and wrote this about his photographs: ‘The images are wonderf
 ul to the point I find myself looking so deeply into them that I feel like 
 I am actually there again, slightly short of breath, but full of gratitude.

 </li></ul><p><strong>Brief bio</strong></p><p>Peter has been a member of NZ
 AC since 2002.</p><p>Since his first backpacking trip away from New Zealand
  in 1988, Peter has visited and photographed many mountainous parts of the 
 world, but none have had such an impact on him as Nepal.<br />The website <

 a>showcases his mountain and travel adventures. In 2013 he published his fi
 rst book <em>Occasional Climber: A Journey to Mount Clarity</em>.<br /><br
