Description

Club night at Tahunanui Community Hub (55 Muratai Street, Tahunanui) - doors open at 7:30pm for a cuppa, presentation starts at 7:45.  Gold coin donation for hall hire.

Come along to hear our guest speaker Paul Wopereis, who will speak to us about Nelson geology and landforms.  He will give an overview of Nelson geology and landscapes, and look at how to read the land to understand how geology has influenced the landforms.

Paul has recently retired from his role as a Senior Engineering Geologist working with the Geotechnical Team with BECA Ltd in Nelson, where he worked for the past 20 years. He was involved in a range of geotechnical work, including land development, infrastructure projects and natural hazards assessment.  He continues to do some casual geotechnical and engineering geology work.
Prior to that he worked in mineral exploration and mining in New Zealand, Australia and South America for 18 years.

Paul previously gave a similar talk to Waimea Tramping Club, where it was very well received.  Waimea members who missed that talk, or who would like to hear it again, are very welcome, as are any other visitors.
